Exemption from ward, dental or other charges
276. - (1) Unless provided otherwise, an officer or a member of his family shall be exempted from paying ward charges when the officer or a member of his family is admitted to Government hospital for tuberculosis, leprosy, cancer or other such sickness requiring long recuperation period or suffering from any of the infectious diseases as set out in the Seventeenth Schedule.

(2) The Government may, with the approval of the State Director of Health, specify any officer and any member of his family who shall be exempted from paying ward charges or dental charges such as dentures, inlays, crowns, bridges and orthodontic appliances, or other charges such as artificial eye-balls, audio-hearing aids, spectacles and other equipment supplied by Government hospital.
