Political activities
169. - (1) Except as provided in paragraph (3), an officer is prohibited from taking an active part in political activities or wearing any emblem of a political party and shall not-

(a) make a statement in public, either orally or in writing, that would adopt a partisan view on any matter which is an issue between political parties;

(b) publish or circulate books, articles or leaflets setting forth his partisan views or the views of others on matters pertaining to a political party;

(c) engage in canvassing in support of any candidate at an election to any office in any political party;

(d) act as an election agent or a polling agent or act in any capacity for or on behalf of a candidate at an election to the Dewan Rakyat or to any State Legislative Assembly;

(e) stand for election for any office in any political party; or

(f) hold any post in any political party.

(2) No officer shall call a public meeting to consider any action of the Government or discuss publicly any measures taken by the Government or participate in the proceedings of such public meeting called for such purpose.

(3) An officer on leave prior to retirement may engage in political activities provided prior written approval from the Government is obtained and that he does not contravene the provisions of Declaration of Secrecy under General Order 18(2) (c) or any of the provisions of the Official Secrets Act 1972.
