RATES OF RENT AND ELIGIBILITY TO OCCUPY

GOVERNMENT QUARTERS

236. - (1) The classification and rates of rent for the Government quarters shall be as may be determined by the Government from time to time.

(2) Government quarters of deteriorated structure may be categorised as substandard. The Public Works Department may recommend to the State Secretary Government quarters which may be categorised as substandard. The rate of monthly rent of such quarters shall not exceed 75% of the rent as may be determined by the Government.

(3) Officers occupying any Government quarters, or houses specially rented by the Government, other than those exempted according to their conditions of service or different conditions imposed by this General Order, shall be required to pay rent according to the class of quarters in occupation.

(4) An officer who is entitled to occupy institutionalised quarters and not eligible for free residence is eligible to pay half of the normal rent as may be determined by the Government from time to time.
