Passing the first fair chance after the probationary period
46.-(1) For the purpose of General Order 45(1), an officer who has his probationary period extended because he was unsuccessful in his Induction Course or failed in the public service examinations prescribed by the Examinations Board, or failed both such Induction Course and examination, shall not be eligible for any salary movement until he has successfully completed the Induction Course or passed the required examination or both such Induction Course and examination within the following prescribed period-

(a) in respect of the Induction Course, within twelve months before the expiry of his probationary period; and

(b) in respect of both the Induction Course and the public service examinations prescribed by the Examinations Board, at the first fair chance that he can attend such course or sit for such examination after the expiry of his probationary period.


(2) For the purpose of paragraph (1), "the first fair chance" means the first fair chance given by the Examinations Board at its discretion for an officer to attend the Induction Course or sit for the required examination after the expiry of his probationary period where special circumstances exist justifying the extension.
