(a) in the case of an officer whose date of appointment is between 1st January and 31st March, the 1st January of the following year;

(b) in the case of an officer whose date of appointment is between 1st April and 30th June, the 1st April of the following year;

(c) in the case of an officer whose date of appointment is between 1st July and 30th September, the 1st July of the following year;

(d) in the case of an officer whose date of appointment is between 1st October and 31st December, the 1st October of the following year.

(2) In the case of an officer who has been confirmed after an extended probationary period with penalty, the date of his annual salary movement shall be based on the date of confirmation in the service after his extended probationary period and subject to the same conditions prescribed in paragraph (1) and, for the purposes of that paragraph, the "date of appointment" shall be read as the "date of confirmation".
