Age and date of birth
6.-(1) Where reference is made to age in a scheme of service or an advertisement on a vacant post, the age intended thereto is the age on the anniversary of the date of birth according to the Gregorian calendar.

(2) In determining the date of birth, where only the month is known, the date of birth of a person shall be deemed as falling on the last day of that month, and where only the year is known, the date of birth shall be deemed as falling on the last day of that year.

(3) Where the date of birth of a person is on 29th February, the anniversary of his date of birth shall be on the 1st March for the years other than a leap year.

(4) Where the date of birth recorded in any record relating to the service of an officer differs from the date of birth given in the birth certificate of the officer, the State Secretary may, on the application of the officer which shall be accompanied by-

(a) the officer's birth certificate or a certified copy thereof; or

(b) in the absence of such birth certificate or such certified copy thereof, other documents acceptable by the State Secretary,

if he is satisfied that it is expedient to do so, amend or allow amendment to be made to the date of birth in the record of service of the officer to the date given in the birth certificate or in the certified copy thereof or in that other document:

Provided that this paragraph shall apply only to an officer who has been appointed to a post in the public service before 1st February, 1957.
