Vacancies in the public service | 7.-(1) Subject to paragraph (2), all vacancies for appointment in the public service shall be filled by appointment of a person born in Sarawak or a citizen of Malaysia who is domiciled in Sarawak or permanently resident in Sarawak.
(2) Notwithstanding paragraph (1), a vacancy in a public office may, with the approval of the State Secretary, be filled by the appointment of a person who is not a citizen of Malaysia or a person born in Sarawak, or a person not domiciled or permanently resident in Sarawak, if the Commission fails to find a citizen of Malaysia or a Sarawakian who is suitable to fill the vacancy. |
