Extended sick leave
132.-(1) An officer who has been granted sick leave under General Order 127 and all the vacation leave due to him under General Order 128 and has been certified by a Medical Board as still unfit for duty, may be granted an extended sick leave subject to the following conditions:

(a) that the officer shall present himself for medical examination by a Medical Board and if the Medical Board has reason to believe that he will become fit for a further service after a period of rest, the Board may recommend that he be granted an extended sick leave on half-pay not exceeding ninety days in one calendar year;

(b) that the officer shall present himself again for medical examination by a Medical Board at the end of the period of rest and if he is still certified unfit after exhausting the leave in subparagraph(a), he may be granted further extended sick leave not exceeding ninety days in one calendar year without pay but with assistance allowance equivalent to half-pay.

(2) The extended sick leave is granted in one calendar year and if the officer is still unfit, he may be granted the same leave in the following year. If the officer is still unfit after having granted all the extended sick leave in the following year, the Medical Board may recommend that he retires from the public service on grounds of ill-health.

(3) An officer whose retirement from the service has been recommended by the Medical Board under paragraph (2) shall be granted thirty days' ex-gratia leave on full-pay.

(4) For the purpose of granting extended sick leave on half-pay under paragraph(1) (a), a medical certificate may be submitted pending the report of the Medical Board, and if no medical certificate is submitted, the officer may be granted leave without pay.
