TRAVELLING FACILITIES

69.-(1) Every officer who is required to travel on official duties is granted facilities of free passage for the journey by the shortest and cheapest route and by suitably efficient means of transport. An officer may be required by his Head of Department to travel by air when this is cheaper and quicker from one place to another specific place.

(2) The family of an officer is eligible for free passage according to the class for which the officer himself is eligible when members of his family are allowed to accompany the officer.

(3) The eligibility as to class of seat for an officer to travel by air is as set out in the Ninth Schedule.

(4) Where an officer is required to be the leader of a delegation, he is eligible for such air passage facilities as accorded to the most senior member of such delegation.

(5) Where the Sponsor provides air passage facilities but the class given is lower than the class of his entitlement, the officer is eligible for such air passage facilities equivalent to his eligibility with the difference in fares to be borne by Government.

(6) An officer travelling by ship or train (in the case of duty in Peninsular Malaysia) is eligible for such class of seat for which he is entitled as may be prescribed by these General Orders.

(7) An officer on first posting following his appointment in the public service is eligible for a free passage of the appropriate grade for himself, and if he is to be accompanied by his family, similar passage for his family, to travel to the station where he is posted.
